Bunk Beds

Kids adore the fun and exciting features of bunk beds, while parents love the space-saving and versatile features of bunk beds. A bunk bed is a type of bed in which one bed is designed and engineered to stack on top of another bed. Typically, because of these wonderful benefits, you’ll find bunk beds in kid’s bedrooms. Bunk beds are also prevalent in University or college residence halls or dorm rooms. You’ll also find bunk beds in places with limited space such as cruise ships, trains, hostels and any other place where floor space is at a premium.

Many bunk beds found in kids bedrooms or college residences can be separated into two freestanding twin beds. Because many bunk beds are designed with this flexibility, the two twin beds can be separated usually by swapping one bed’s footboard with its headboard, to create a more typically styled twin bed. You’ll find bunk beds more commonly stacked on top of each other to save space.

Bunk beds have all the benefits of two separate beds for two people to sleep comfortably, with an additional benefit: maximized floor space. More traditional bunk beds have four posts, one at each corner of the bunk bed, to support the top bed of the bunk bed.

Today, many bunk beds are engineered and designed with safety features, including safe and sturdy ladders, which can be used to safely climb into the top bunk of the bunk beds. Some bunk beds do not have a ladder as many children can easily climb up to and jump down from the top bunk of the bunk beds.

Railings for added safety usually surround top beds of bunk beds. This prevents fall out of bunk beds. It is not recommended that children under the age of six sleep or play in the top bunk of bunk beds.
